What Is GPO?
What is a Full Form of G.P.S.? It is an international, universal format to track global positioning system or GPS satellites. This is the type of gas used by many military and law enforcement agencies to keep track of their troops and supplies. As such, it is very useful for tracking ships and planes, towing of rigs, and many other items used in the military.
G.P.S. was initially developed by the United States military for tracking of ships. It was soon adopted by the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps, which are often deployed in remote areas and need precise information about where their assets are at all times. The G.P.S. format is the commonest used today for worldwide use in tracking these types of units.
Because of the need for a reliable, accurate way to track and pinpoint locations of GPS satellites, the G.P.S. format became standardized in 1970. There are now hundreds of versions available on the market. Each one uses a slightly different technology.
The most common and most widely used standard format are based on the NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) system. It works with a series of satellites orbiting the Earth. A receiver installed on a ship or airplane picks up the signals sent back by the satellites. The information is then interpreted by computer software to give a location.
The second type of its format is the Global Positioning System (GPS) version developed by the U.S. Department of Defense. These versions use more sophisticated technology and allow more precise location information. The first GPS systems were designed to help the military navigate and find their way in the wilderness.
Because G.P.S. systems are commonly used in the military and law enforcement, they are made with very high quality electronics and other materials to ensure that they will withstand harsh conditions. They come with a limited warranty, so if they break you are not left without GPS and a way to track your boat.
A third type of its format is the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) format. This is an international standard used to provide global positioning, as well as a navigational device for aircraft and boats. The U.S. military has a NMEA approved version. Most commercial GPS units are available for sale as units that can be installed on cars and trucks. Even though they do not have the U.S. military's approval, they are still a good choice for use by anyone who wants an easy to use and inexpensive method of tracking their vehicle or boat.
Other uses for G.P.P.S. include use in the private sector to track vehicles and boats in a variety of ways, such as to keep tabs on boat owners and renters.
Because there are so many different types of gps systems available for purchase, it is hard to know what one is best for what. The above two formats are the most common and the least expensive to buy. If you are interested in a less expensive alternative then check out the various auction sites that sell off used ones.
