According to this legend, St. Nicholas arrived at their homes in a sleigh pulled by two carracks bearing gifts of presents for the children of Christ. He would take them to where Christ was teaching.
Some historians even speculate that the true history of Christmas came out of a legend about the legendary Nativity of our Lord. According to this legend, Christ was born inside a cave, in a stable made of reeds in a village near Bethlehem, but some of these stories state that it is actually a legend.
This legend states that Mary and Joseph, Mary's husband, took the baby and hid him in a cave under the floor of a house, where he remained for several years until she found him and returned him to her. This story of how Jesus was born in a cave goes back many hundreds of years before the Christian tradition of Christmas became popular.
